Forum: feature_films Subject: Download count bug and correction

Many of you who watch your download counts will notice that they have changed and likely been reduced in the last few days. This is due to the discovery and fix of a bug in the download tabulation.

One of the formats that is typically derived in an item is a gif. It appears next to the item name and description in search results. Each time it has appeared since January 2012 it has mistakenly been counted as a download.

This was not intentional and the bug was only recently discovered and fixed. The download count reduction is the result of removing the downloads attributed to occasions when the gif appeared in search results.

Our apologies.

On another topic, has the Archive changed its policy about copyrighted films? No one at the Archive seems willing to remove this:

Quite understandable. But I was wondering about those stratospheric numbers. Thought maybe mass hysteria or, and I know this is a stretch, WMD. Or pets who've learned the keyboard. It's coming.

Thanks for the update.
